Leonardslee Grey On the 16th of May, Lawrence Dean and Patricia Begley travelled to Leonardslee Gardens in West Sussex. The gardens are renowned for their wonderful trees and scrubs, and they decided it would be nice to spend some hours relaxing in this peaceful and beautiful place. Whilst walking round the grounds, the couple came upon an enclosure containing a number of wallabies. Fascinated by the animals, Lawrence decided to take a photo of them using his Canon 'SureShot' 35mm camera. Aiming it through the enclosure's wire fence, he took a snap of the creatures. The rest of the film was used up by taking shots of the garden's beautiful flowers. The following day, the film was taken to a Hove chemist for development. Three days later it was collected and in viewing the photographs Lawrence quickly noticed that superimposed over the wallaby's body, in a light beam, was an extra image. This was the unmistakable face and upper body of a grey. |

The distinctive large black eyes and small mouth were clearly discernable. After the initial excitement of finding the being, Lawrence thought about a logical explanation for the production of the image. He therefore concluded that the face might have been created by the positioning of the animal's dark paws or its body markings. Likewise, the light beam could be attributed to some kind of reflection from the enclosure's wire fence. Consequently he resisted from jumping to the conclusion that it might have paranormal origins.
One week later, accompanied by Patricia, he decided to return to Leonardslee Gardens to undertake an investigation. They went to the wallaby enclosure and took a number of photographs of the animals to see if they could in some way reproduce the image. Whilst doing this, Lawrence purposely made sure that a section of the wire fence was included in the viewfinder so that he could determine whether this was responsible for the light beam. When he received this latest film back from the developers he was somewhat disappointed to find that it did not really help him make a decision as to whether the grey image was paranormal. Although the pictures showed that the fence was responsible for the beam of light in which the creature manifested, he did not capture another 'face', but this could well have been due to him not photographing the wallaby in the appropriate position. |
